The Feel-Good Factor
LG has been flooding the market with mid-end phones. The latest to join this stable is the LG KS 360, which is priced at Rs 9,999. The front panel of the phone has a 2.4” TFT touchscreen dialing, which gives crisp pictures, and numerous buttons below it.
The D-pad is given a different look. The navigation keys are separated and the OK button is in the middle, giving it a messy look. On the left is the soft key below it is the call key and at the bottom is the touchpad key (which activates the touch screen for dialing numbers and searching contacts). On the right is the second soft key, followed by the end/power key and the clear key.
The left side has the volume rocker and the camera button. On the right is the multiple connector port for charging, data cable and handsfree. Below this is the expansion slot for the microSD card.
Sliding the screen towards the left reveals the full QWERTY keypad. Each key is circular, which takes time to get used to. The rest is assured you will love the phone just like us. The 2-megapixel camera and the mirror are at the back of the phone.
Inside The Box
In many phones the menu map can be a long list and can be confusing at times. But the KS 360 like all other LG’s phone has a nicely arrange menus. The phone is preloaded with NDTV Active. The 2-megapixel camera gives excellent output and comes with the image editing feature. The image editing feature is mediocre but is simple and easy to use. Users can add text, elements and change contrast. You can also add animations and fun frames to the pictures.
The device comes with FM radio, MP3 player and video recording. The FM reception is quite good. For video recording maximum resolution can be set at 320x240 and the quality from super fine, fine to normal. The MP3 player is easy to operate. Users can create their own playlists like “on the go”, “recent songs”, and “favourite songs”. While listening to music they can access other functions by minimising the MP3 feature and playing music in the background.
The LG KS 360 has an internal memory of 15 MB, which can be expanded up to 4GB with a microSD card. So you don’t have to worry about storage for your music or pictures.
The device comes in a variety of colour combinations: black and red, black and silver, white and soft pink, titanium and bright blue. So, simply choose the colour to suit your personality.
The Real Performer
The overall performance of the LG KS 360 is very good. With an excellent FM reception and sound quality the phone is one of the best we have seen. The QWERTY keypad with the touchscreen dialling is an exciting feature. The phone’s Bluetooth transfer is faster than the Cookie’s. Bluetooth performance in A2DP is also quite decent as well as the data transfer. The speakerphone and handsfree give crisp and clear sound quality.
The 2.0 megapixel camera gives a good performance indoor as well as outdoor. However, the battery back-up was below our expectations. Though the company claims to give a back up of up to five hours, we got approximately four hours. The standby time of the phones is 430 hours.
Alternatively
The LG KS 360 costs Rs 12,500. Other options include the Asus P320 for Rs 12,000 and the Samsung S7330 for Rs 12,300.
